Yes, I do have a bank alt and dedicated guild bank, in fact they’ve been featured somewhat frequently on my blog. For those who aren’t familiar, here’s my bank alt, Leigera, standing in front of an open guild vault.
While some people advocate using multiple banking alts I keep all my transactions through the one character, it just keeps thing simpler for me. To cut down on bag clutter I typically only stock the amount of an item I allow to be posted at one time, so my bags are relatively empty after each posting cycle, especially when you factor in that I force some items to post, typically at fallback, like glyphs (which I actually post at threshold) just so my bags don’t get overwhelmed. While it means I have to keep on top of my posting cycles more fervently, the ease of having everything going through one toon trumps any advantage multiple bankers may hold.
Of course, no banker would be complete without bling. Here’s a close up at what my bankers wear (none of the items are soulbound, so this is the original set from my first banker, traditions!).
Here’s what she’s rocking:

- White Tuxedo Shirt
- Black Tuxedo Pants
- Tuxedo Jacket
- Dress Shoes
- The Rock
- Noble’s Elementium signet
- Diamond-Tipped Cane
Of all the items my banker sports, the Diamond-Tipped Cane must’ve been the hardest one for me to get my hands on, though maybe that was just the server I was on at the time, as my latest server seems to have them in supply (though they still aren’t plentiful).
As for the second part of the question, my memory is a bit foggy on when I started doing it, but as to the why I did it to organize all my banking activities. It was more convenient to have a dedicated toon that could stay parked in the city and didn’t have to worry about random day-to-day game items clogging up the bag space. The guild bank I think is pretty self explanatory, guild banks are unrivalled in the amount of space they offer, and I’m a huge pack rat so I need all the space I can get.
